Wanderbound

Wanderbound is a brand identity creation project for a conceptual camping brand.

Note: Upon completion, project was submitted to Bitmaker (acquired by General Assembly).

Introduction

When running my competitive analysis, many camping apparel and gear brands focused on performance, intensity, and/or being fashion forward, and none emphasized diversity. While searching, I found countless blogs from various people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and physical attributes who loved the outdoors. Where were the gear brands advertising to different races, body shapes, and people with disabilities? I decided to make one.

  • The brand should seek to encourage young people (ages 16-25) to experience more of the outdoors

  • Todays' young people are passionate about ethics and diversity, which this brand also stands for and should live by through its branding and practices

  • The brand should invoke the feeling of nostalgia of more adventurous days past

And thus...Wanderbound was born!

Naming the Brand

Name: I knew that I wanted the name to be playful and representative of the company's focus. Creating the term Wanderbound felt like I was telling the story of the ideal consumer - someone destined for adventure.
